Personally, even before doing this job, I have always been photography. I always had a camera in my bag, before it was analog, sometimes compact, it was also disposable, I have always been the one who takes pictures of everything, of everyone and has the house full of albums.
Since I was a teenager, things have changed quite a bit. Technology has allowed us to take pictures of decidedly superior quality more easily and, above all, with lower economic investments.
My photographic style has changed a lot in recent years, I shoot practically every day which has allowed me to improve not a little, plus I started adding videos too, I would say with the result that is not as satisfactory. Still, in the end, to be average good, yes, he has to practice a lot first.
My travel photography gear
I wear this equipment on every trip I take, but if I go around Rome or any other city, I always carry my mirrorless bag. 99% of the photos I publish on the website, Facebook page, and Instagram are taken with a camera and rarely with a mobile phone.
Here are my favorite products:
Cameras:
Sony Alpha 6000 this is my mirrorless I have it since it came out ie, from December 201. I am very well. It is super light, super compact, excellent sensor quality, and brightness certainly gives the best of it when used in the manual. It was one of the first mirrorless cameras to have very high ISO (that is, it can photograph well in low light).
Even in videos, it does very well. As limits, I would say that you cannot add the external microphone and the fact that it does not have a folding screen to make vlogs.
Sony Alpha 6500 for a couple of years I have been working with Sony, and they give me a couple of machines a year to try for a few months. This summer, I asked if I could try the new A6500 and am madly in love with it. It is as super performing as they say it has a crazy sensor; the photos’ quality is so high that there is practically no need for editing.
Sony RX10ii this is the camera that I have tried this winter for a couple of months, it is a bridge, so for those who are perhaps less practical or passionate, here is my review.
Lens:
Sony E PZ 16-50 mm F3.5-5.6 OSS: Attack E, APS-C format, is a lens with a standard zoom, Power zoom, very compact it performs very well, it certainly has an excellent brightness but not much boost.
Sony E 55-210 mm F4.5-6.3 OSS: E mount, APS-C format, a telephoto lens with zoom, stabilization with optical SteadyShot. I feel very comfortable; it’s quite bright and has an excellent definition.
Vario-Tessar® T * E 16-70 mm F4 ZA OSS: E-mount, APS-C format, maximum constant aperture of F4, ZEISS standard zoom lens. Very very bright, perfect for travel photos.
Stands:
Manfrotto Compact: I bought it because at the time it was lighter than the range and having the possibility to extract the rod that carries the head and put it on the other side, that is, between the feet, it takes up very little space and can be hooked to the side of the backpack.
Gorillapod in recent years on the road mainly carries this because it gives the possibility of being able to attach it to trees or fit it into strange supports such as walls or stairs and is very light.
GoPro Pole: the one I use for sure is not the longest, but it becomes super small, and I can also put it in my purse or backpack.
GoPro:
GoPro Hero 5 Black: the new arrival at my house. I have been many years with the Hero3, and the difference is abysmal. The new one’s photographic quality has improved, then I find the button that directly starts the video or photos and, of course, the rear screen very convenient. The new GoPro is waterproof. It is possible to use it without housing up to 10 meters underwater, which I must say is very comfortable.
GoPro Hero5 super suite case: I use GoPro mainly for diving, so I decided to buy the case to go up to 60 meters.
Red Filter: after about 10 meters of depth, the camera registers a prevalence of blue. Therefore it is necessary to have a red filter to balance the colours. Let’s say that if you dive, it is essential
SD cards
Lexar SDHC, 32 GB, Speeds up to 150 MB / s, 1000x, UHS-II: as my friend Emiliano says if you make videos, it is essential to have a card that has at least a writing speed of 1000x
Micro SD: I have different brands, and I use them for the GoPro, I interchange them when I can’t empty the card
Drone:
I have been buying a drone for more than a year, then for one reason or another, I waited, and honestly, I did well since the DJI Mavic Pro came out, which becomes very small, and I can put it directly in the backpack. I tried the drone I’m on my trip to Mexico, and as much as I get tremendous anxiety when I pilot, it is really beautiful.
Light Panel:
New LED Panel Light 308C: I use it mainly to make videos at home, perfect for eliminating all those strange shadows that form under the eyes, especially when the years go.
